My
Story
by Snickers Frederic
Pepperton Brusky
I was
born somewhere near Markesan, Wisconsin, in early-mid August,
2009. When I was three months old and wandering as a stray, I was
visited by the most beautiful black and white cat. She was
glowing with light! She said she was my guardian angel,
Grandma Kittling, and that there was a warm, loving home waiting for
me.
Grandma Kittling told me
all about how her daddy found her in the parking lot of a rural
Wisconsin dance hall on a cold Winter day back in 1993. He took
her home to love and care for her for the rest of her life — almost
seventeen years — until it was time for her to go to heaven on November
4th. Grandma Kittling told me that the warm, loving home she knew
would soon become mine, and her daddy would become mine as well.
She
safely guided me across roads and snowy farm fields until we came to
a dance hall which was a lot like the hall where she was
found. She told me that some kind people who worked there would
provide
food and shelter for me for the next few weeks, and then on December
20th, which would have been her 17th birthday, my new daddy would come
and take me home. Grandma Kittling stayed with me for a while,
telling me about all the wonderful things I would experience in my new
life.
Clyde and Darlene who run
the hall found me the next day. They made a shelter for me in an
adjacent shed and provided me with food, water, and an electric heat
pad
to keep me warm through the bitter cold nights. I stayed there
for a few weeks, just like Grandma Kittling told me to do. Then,
on
December 20th, I heard some noise coming from the front of the building
and walked around the corner to see what was going on. I saw
three musicians unloading their cars. One of them tried to
pick me up, but I scooted away because I was scared. Then I
remembered what my Grandma told me, and I let him pick me up. I
could tell by the way he held me that it was the person Grandma
Kittling was
talking about. He was my new daddy.
He took me home
that night, and now I am living the best life I could ever
imagine. I inherited all of Grandma Kittling's toys (nearly 300!)
and have so many luxuries, from a Platinum Drinkwell Fountain to my
very own sheepskin window perch. The accommodations here are
cozy, I
get treats every day, I am fed all the food I can eat, and my daddy
plays with me all the
time!
My daddy named me after two fondly-remembered pets who lived in his
family, Freddy and Pepper.
